Star Wars - A New Hope

This week's mug is a special find.  It is a mug I didn't even know existed!  It is a mug which honors the Star Wars Movie Series, with an iconic scene from the 1st Movie, subtitled A New Hope. The mug is 'mechanical styled' to match the Star Wars aesthetic.  On the left side of the mug is the well known icons for Star Wars on a matte grey surface.  On the right side of the mug is a wide band of blue, containing the Robot/Droid R2D2.  

When hot liquid is added, the area to the left of R2D2 clears to reveal the projection message that Princess Leia implanted in the droid to send to the resistance. Oddly the wide band of blue, which stretches almost two thirds of the distance around the mug, is rather deceptive in that there is so much room for the magic effect, and yet so little is really utilized.  

The mug is brand new and the color change is excellent.  Rather than come in a box, the mug comes with a protective plastic sleeve on which is shown the same color change that the mug produces.  In addition, they include instructions stuck to the inside of the mug.

Constellations Mug

This month's mug is a real find.  When cold, it appears black with irregular dots like stars fully around it.  

 When hot liquid is added to the mug, the full mug clears to show a collection of constellations and their corresponding character shape.  They are (above, left to right) 

Castor and Pollux (Gemini), Scorpius (The Scropion), Orion (The Warrior), Taurus (The Bull), Ursa Major (The Bear), Ursa Minor (the Small Bear), Cassiopea (The Queen), Persius (The Slayer of Medusa), Andromeda (The Princess), Hercules (the Half Man/Half God), and Saggitarius (The Centaur) 

The mug is in very good shape and the color change is very good. A wonderful new addition to the collection.

Hocus Pocus (Movie) Cauldron Mug

This week's mug is a wonderful addition to the collection.  From the movie "Hocus Pocus" (and maybe Hocus Pocus 2) is this 'cauldron shaped mug' (With feet!) On the right side of the mug is the logo from the movie "Hocus Pocus," and blank on the left. Even cold, the mug has an evil slime green interior. 

When hot liquid is added to the mug, the whole mug clears to show a dripping green slime around the top of the mug and the words "Trouble is Brewing" on the left.  

Color change is incredible as the mug is brand new!  

Wait there's more! 

The mug also comes with this nifty ceramic spoon!  Inside the bowl of the spoon is a bit of the green slime color that matches the mug.  Would have been neat that it changes color, too; but alas, it does not.

CHRISTMAS TREE - Wondermugs

 

This week's mug is a wonderful post Christmas find!  The mug is from Wondermugs, who create some of the best magic mugs around.  This mug features a pine tree on both sides of the mug above a banner with the words "Merry Christmas."  The tree is full of dark pine cones.  

When hot liquid is added to the mug, the pine cones clear to reveal Christmas Tree lights!  This is a great used find, and the magic ink still works great!

HARRY POTTER - MARAUDER'S MAP #3

This week's mug is another from the Harry Potter Book/Movie series.  Above you can see the mug shows fully dark and obscurred, even the handles.  (Though, the handles appear worn with use.) 

When hot liquid is added to the mug, the entire thing clears to reveal the Marauder's Map in a double full wrap around design.  On the right side, it shows the map with the overlay of words 'I solemnly swear I am up to no good' and on the left side of the mug more of the map is seen with the overlay of the words "Mischief Managed." 

The mug is used, and wear is evident on the handles as well as inside the mug, but a good addition overall.

Star Wars Rogue One - Death Trooper

This week's mug is a happy find in one of our local Thrift Stores.  This is from the Star Wars feature "Rogue One" and features the newest villain, The Death Trooper.  The mug design shows the  Death Trooper in 3/4 on the right side of the mug, and on the left up close.

When hot liquid is added to the mug, the entire mug clears to reveal information about the Death Trooper.  On the right side of the mug are front and back views and on the left is the up close view, but all in green on white. Views are labeled and the front view includes the identification of the "Polarizing Filter, exhaust Filters, Vocoder Speakers and Induction Filters."  All this is above the identification of the Empire Elite Forces. 

Beside the mug's handle is the additional information that it is from Rogue One of Star Wars.  

Sadly, the mug has been abused, but the color change is still very good. Not only that, the mug features a full 3 color change as it is from the newer style of magic mugs.

Harry Potter Marauder's Map #2

This week's mug is a great Thrift Store Find.  It is related to the first Harry Potter Mug I have (To see that mug, click here!) Both mugs are taken from the Harry Potter books/movies and highlight the 'Marauder's Map' which is a magical map introduced in the book "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Askaban." Not only did it show every classroom, every hallway, and every corner of the castle, but it also showed every inch of the grounds, as well as all the secret passages that were hidden within its walls and the location of every person on the grounds, portrayed by a dot.

When cold, the mug appears an all over blood red color, and on the right side of the mug is a stylized portrayal of Hogwarts School of  Witchcraft and Wizardry. 

When hot liquid is added to the mug, the entire surface clears (even behind the mug handle!) to show footprints and labels in map styles all over the mug.  Above and in the drawing of Hogwarts the names of those students who invented the map appear using their nicknames. "Mssrs Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot & Prongs are proud to present" and inside the school grounds appears "The Marauder's Map."

The mug is well used and some areas of the 'color change overlay' are torn off, but this is still a good addition to my collection.  The color change is still good, though with a strong light, the footprints and map area can be seen - most likely used in a microwave.
