Tracrium Medicine

This week's mug is another of those damaged but have to have in the collection type of mugs.  It is for a medicine known as Tracrium, a medication used in addition to other medications to provide skeletal muscle relaxation during surgery or mechanical ventilation.

On the right side of the mug is "New Tracrium" inside a shadow of a hypodermic needle, along with it's chemical name "(atracurium besylate)."  In the lower left is the logo for the company "Welcome" (Foundation, UK.)

On the left side of the mug is the name again in the hypodermic needle above two dark rectangles. When hot liquid is added, the two spots clear to reveal the phrase "UNIQUE METABOLIQUE" and another phrase which is unable to be seen due to the long term damage to the thermo-ink.

This is a nice inclusion to the collection, even with the damage.  Again, pointing out what not to do with your magic mugs.

Campbell's Soup - USA Figure Skating

This week's mug is one of my oldest. It is from Campbell's Soup and shows their sponsorship of the USA Figure Skating Team.   Campbell's has sponsored the USA Figure Skating Team for many years. This is from the 1980s to 1990s and features the USA Figure Skating Team logo on the right side of the mug.

On the left side of the mug is the USA Figure Skating Team Logo again, but this time, in the center is a dark rectangle.  (I note that this mug is microwave or UV Damaged and no longer changes, but it still is a great mug.)  When hot liquid is added to the mug, the rectangle clears to reveal the Campbell's Kids TM as a figure skating couple.   At the bottom it says "Official Sponsor Campbell's Soups."

This mug is very old, and a terrific example of the Magic Ink in advertising.

Altus Bank - New Name

This week's mug is from Altus Bank and has the same image on both sides of the mug. At the top is the phrase "We have a new name."  In the center, on what appears to be a large billboard, is a large dark rectangle above the words "ALTUS BANK" in stylized print. Below this is the phrase "A Federal Savings Bank." On either sides of the billboard post are drawings of  houses and trees.
When hot liquid is added to the mug, the rectangle clears to reveal the words "But our promise is the same, We put you first."  The color change is good, but not complete.

Altus banks were purchased by US Bank in 1991.

Tavist-D Tablets

This mug is from Tavist-D Tablets. On the left side of the mug is the phrase "Prescribe Tavist-D Tablets" above a large blue area in which is a white silhouette of a human head. Inside the silhouette is another dark area of the head with clouds visible at the back. Below this drawing is the completion of the phrase "for a clear head."
On the right side of the mug is the description "When decongestant relief is clearly needed" above the stylized "Tavist-D Tablets."  In small print at the bottom is the  chemical make up of the medicine "(clemastine furnarate/phenylpropanolamine HCI)"
When hot liquid is added to the mug, the inner dark sillhouette clears to show how Tavist-D clears the head.  The color change for this mug is about 50% though the mug is in great condition.

Tavist D was an over the counter cold remedy introduced in the late 1980s. It was then pulled from shelves in the early 2000s when phenylpropanolamine was found to cause increase risk of strokes.
