Yosemite Valley

Today's magic mug is from the Yosemite Valley.  The Yosemite Valley is a glacial valley in Yosemite National Park in the western Sierra Nevada mountains of California (USA). The valley is about 8 miles (13 km) long and up to a mile deep, surrounded by high granite summits such as Half Dome and El Capitan, and densely forested with pines.

When cool, the mug shows the valley under a dark starry sky.  When hot liquid is added, the sky clears and you see a bright yellow and orange sunrise.

This mug is a retail purchase item usually found in the better Gift Shops in tourist areas of Yosemite Valley.

Star Trek Logo - TOS (The Original Series)

This mug is a contemporary mug in honor of a 1960's Television show, Star Trek.  The Logo is direct from the show, and is shown against a field of stars.

When hot liquid is added, each letter of the logo clears to show Black and White Images from the show itself.  In the realm of Star Trek, this is referred to as Star Trek TOS (meaning The Old Show or The Original Series.)

This is a full 3 sided, wrap around design, and is in great shape!  This mug is a great retail item available on the internet and in some gift shops.

Digitex Corporation

This magic mug comes from a subsidiary of IBM (International Business Machines).  It is from Digitex Corporation, in Orlando, Florida.  The front of the mug shows a blank computer type screen with the letters IBM across the top.
When hot liquid is added, the screen clears to show the logo, DIGI TEX Corporation.
The back of the mug has the address of the company in Tampa, Florida.
This is a beautiful Corporate Advertising mug, most likely given to clients as a gift.

Dr. Who Tardis Magic Mug

This mug was posted on my WANT! pages but I was surprised to receive it as a Christmas present. Because of this, I just had to include it as my last mug of 2013.

The Tardis is a Space and Time traveling craft used by Dr. Who on the Dr Who television series created and broadcast on the BBC (here in the USA, we see it on BBC-America) The Mug shows the Tardis on one side of the mug, in a city setting and a view of 'empty' space on the other. When the mug gets hot, the Tardis disappears from the city setting and is revealed in Space.

In the world of Magic Mugs (Thermochromic/thermochromatic Mugs) this is the top of the line, as it is (as far as I know) the ONLY mug with a Full Color Change. (In fact, before this mug, I had only seen one mug with a 2 Color Change - The Mythical Continent of Pangea.)  The Tardis is a full color graphic which clears when hot.  Beautiful and highly desirable!  I also note that this mug is what must be called a 2-Plus sided design, where the two sides are separated by the Dr Who Graphic laid sideways.

In addition, I also have the full color box which came with it, viewed below. The box is full of great graphics including on the closing tab.  (The box says 'add coffee', but any hot beverage will work, even hot water!)
The front and back of the box are almost identical.

And, if that weren't enough, the bottom of the mug also has information about copyright and production.

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire - Regis Philbin

This is a Retail Purchase Magic Mug which advertises the television show "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?"  This is from the original incarnation, the evening show staring Regis Philbin.  It is called the "Magic Question" mug and I'm lucky to even have the original box it came in, repleat with the show's logo and price tag.
This mug is a two sided design, but the sides are so wide as to cover the entire mug the way a 3 sided design would fit. On the main side it has the Show's Logo with Host Regis Philbin holding a fan of money.  On the reverse is a view of the way in which questions were revealed on the TV show.  The question is "THIS CUP OF COFFEE IS" and below are the four possible answers: A: TOO STRONG, B: TOO WEAK, C: JUST PERFECT, and C: JUST PLAIN LOUSY.
When hot liquids are added, the area between the Question and the answers clears to show "FINAL ANSWER:" and the area below the answers clears to show the chosen answer "JUST PLAIN LOUSY" and the tag "YOU GOT IT!"

This mug is in great condition, and the color changes are quick and bright.  The box has some shelf wear but overall in great condition.

Missionary Union

This mug comes from the Women's Missionary Union, an Auxiliary to the Kentucky Baptist Convention. This is printed below the colored rectangle on the front of the mug.  Above he rectangle is "Making a World of Difference." Just below this phrase are four logos representing four of the parts of the WMU.  My initial research suggests that these are (or were) publications of the WMU.

When hot liquid is added, the rectangle clears - along with the 4 logos - to show "Women on Mission Missions Mosaic."   It appears as if this represents the merging of the 4 'parts' into the one publication "Missions Mosaic," though I have not found any real proof of this.

The mug is standard shaped, and all color changes are quick.
