F-117A Radar

This is a retail mug sold in honor of the building of the F117A Stealth Fighter.  Also known as the Stealth Nighthawk, the plane was built by Lockheed and introduced in 1983.  On the left of the mug is the F-117A flying among the clouds.
On the right side of the mug is a drawing of a radar screen with the F-117 visible in the center.
When hot liquid is added to the mug, the plane disappears from both the clouds and the radar screen.
This mug is in great condition and is a wonderful addition to the collection.  Color change is near complete and fast.

Teacher's Mug

This week's mug is a retail mug which I found many years ago.  It shows a blackboard surrounded by pencils, the alphabet and a ruler.  On the blackboard is the math equation 2 + 2 = 4.
When hot liquid is added, the blackboard clears to reveal words which turn the equation into a phrase.  "2 Teach is 2 touch lives 4 Ever!"

The color change is about average, but it's a beautiful mug in great condition.

PBS Mystery #1

This week's mug is one of my personal favorites.  It is a freebie from the Public Broadcasting System in honor of their broadcast of the English produced Series "Mystery!" This is a 3 sided wrap-around design with the Mystery! logo above near center.

There are several mugs in this series and this is my first.  These mugs were given away during their annual telethon fundraising event and feature drawings by Edward Gorey, which match the opening sequence of the show.  Here you can see a game of Croquet, but all is not as it seems.  One person hides while two others seemingly pause to gossip.

When hot liquid is added, several things change.  People appear and disappear and clues abound. Supposedly, there  is an actual mystery here that can be solved once the clues appear.

The color change is not as good as I'd like, but you can still see the changes that should occur.  (I've never figured out the mystery or the solution.)

B-2 Into the Blue

This week's mug comes again from the Northrop Aviation people along with the US Air Force and commemorates the first flight of the B-2 Bomber.  On the right side of the mug you can see the words FIRST FLIGHT in blue stylized font along with U.S. Air Force / Northrop, B-2.  The flight path, 'Palmdale to Edwards Air Force Base', the date: 1989 and the B-2 Team: Boeing, LTV, General Electric and Hughes.
On the left side of the mug is a drawing of the B-2 inside a dark circle with a blue grid below it.  Above the craft is the phrase "OUT OF THE BLACK."
When hot liquid is added, the dark circle clears to show a blue sky above the craft and the words below it "INTO THE BLUE.'  This is one in a great series of mugs dealing with the stealth technology and the US Air Force.  Its color change is not as good as it could be, but I love having it as part of the collection.
