Cat Pun

This week's magic mug is a retail mug I found while out shopping one day.  It is very large and has a cute cartoon cat on the right. The left is blank. 

When hot liquid is added to the mug, the area above and below the cat turn clear to reveal a cute pun in the statement "YOU HAVE CAT TO BE KITTEN ME RIGHT MEOW!" 

This mug also came in it's own box, complete with full color graphics!  It's so big, I want to use it every day!

Henry VIII and His Wives

This week's mug is a great full color wrap around design and was a gift from a friend.  She's an Anglophile and got as much of a kick out of it as I have.  This mug shows Henry VIII on the front of the mug and the left and right sides show each of his 6 wives, dressed all in black with only their hands visible. The ladies appear in chronological order. 

When hot liquid is added to the mug, the faces of the wives vanish, leaving only their white silhouette and grey dresses.  Above their hands is their name and how they 'left' Henry's side.   On the right side of the mug you will see Catherine of Aragon - Divorced; Ann Boleyn - Beheaded; Jane Seymour - Died. And then on the left side: Ann of Cleeves - Divorced; Kathryn Howard - Beheaded; Katheryn Parr - Survived. 

The mug comes in its own full color box!  A wonderful and educational addition to the collection.

Star Wars - Hyperspace and Crop Dusting

This is the second in the Star Wars mugs.  The mug has a full wrap around design, showing Han Solo and Chewbacca at the controls on the left side and also a view of the Millennium Falcon in space on the right.

When hot liquid is add to the mug, the scenes change. On the left side, the view of space changes to show the beginning of Hyperspace. On the right, a quote from the movie shows up.

Star Wars - Darth and Obi Wan

In honor of the Premier of the new Star Wars Movie this December, the next two Magic Mugs feature Star Wars characters.

The first one shows a scene from Episode 4 (the very first movie) where Darth Vader and Obi Wan Kenobi face off with their Light Sabers.  They speak the now famous lines seen above - Darth: "Now I am the Master!" Obi Wan: "Only a Master of Evil, Darth!"  The mug shows the two characters facing off, each on opposite sides of the mug, the center between them, dark. 

When hot liquid is added to the mug, the entire mug changes!  The dark background turns from black to a dark blue; the logo of the Empire is revealed behind Darth Vader and the Logo for the Resistance is revealed behind Obi Wan.  Lastly, the dark area between the two shows their two iconic light sabers, red and blue, as they come together!  

This mug is brand new, and comes in its own special box!  Not only is the color change fantastic, it's also bigger than most magic mugs!  Perfect for my morning coffee before I take the land speeder into town!

Colorado Mountains Mug

This week's mug was a total surprise, a gift from close relatives who visited my home stomping grounds: Colorado!  The mug is new style, totally dark (pictures are not accurate, the color is more purple than black.) 

When hot liquid is added to the mug, the entire surface changes as it gets hot, revealing the beautiful rocky Mountains. This is a 3 sided change, full wrap around design and includes the word "Colorado" in the lower right as if you can't tell by the beautiful scenery where this is from! (The color change includes the handle, which I'm sure would turn white if the handle got hot enough.)

The mug is brand spanking new and I also note that it came with its own special packaging. Most  Magic Mugs come in a box or folding protector. This mug came with a wrap around label showing the design and explaining the color change.

Mayor's Charity Ball 2002

This week's mug is another one of those mugs that has been overused or used improperly.  On the left side of the mug is an area which would have showed a firework burst beneath the words "GOD BLESS AMERICA."  On the right side of the mug is another firework burst with the words "Mayor's Charity Ball 2002." On the front, opposite the handle is the copyright, "© Wondermugs® ● USA." When heated, the dark area would clear and reveal a flag with the words "United We Stand."

 As always, I keep these mugs in the collection as they are a good example of what not to do.

This mug is from St. Charles, Missouri and is in great condition otherwise. The mug was given as a promotion during the Fourth of July celebration in anticipation of the Mayor's Ball.

Golden Bean Coffee Tour Costa Rica

This week's mug is one of the new style of Magic Mugs.  It starts out as a plain black mug with white inside and when hot liquid is added, the entire mug changes, including the handle. 

When the color change happens, this mug reveals the logo for the Golden Bean Coffee Tour in Costa Rica.  The Golden Bean Coffee Tour  is a tour of coffee plantations and includes tastings of coffees across Costa Rica.  This mug came a long way!  

The mug is in great condition, considering how far it has traveled and is a great addition to my collection.

HALLOWEEN SKULL

This is the last of the Halloween series for this year.  This mug features a nice creepy skull with dark accents in the eyes and around the mouth. Though the design is a 2 sided look, the two sides reach around to meet in the middle, giving it a wrap around look.

When hot liquid is added to the mug, the eyes and accents around the mouth clear to reveal a pair of red, blood shot eyes and what appears to be blood dripping from the teeth!  Very cool design.
