CAHAPOSHAU Iowa Tourism Organization

This is another of those mugs where I can't seem to find much history on it.  On the front of the mug is the outline of the state of Iowa with the header CAHAPOSHAU.  When hot liquid is added, you can then see the names of five southwestern counties, with the first two letters of each county name in bold. (CAss, HArrison, POttaattamie, SHelby, AUdobon) These letters, when put together, spell the name CAHAPOSHAU.  You can also see the counties outlines there in the lower left.  

On the opposite side, you again see the name of the organization and a logo, with the tag line "Serenity and Country Warmth"   This is not a retail mug, and was probably given to supporters or members of the organization.  

This is another of those mugs which no longer has a color change, most likely due to Microwave damage.

AT&T Memory Call Service

This mug shows a happy little Telephone and a big block off to the left.  When heated, the big block clears and shows the taqg line "Now your phone can answer itself !"

The mug is for AT&T Memory Call service, which is printed opposite the thermochromic design.  The mug was a gieaway advertising the Memory Call service when it was first introduced.

Diet Pepsi Logo Redesign

This magic mug is from the introduction of the New Diet Pepsi Redesign. The mug is a Full design, showing Pepsi Logos on the dark area at the bottom of the mug running around the entire mug, handle to handle. .Across the top, it says "NEW LOOK, SAME GREAT TASTE!"

When hot liquid is added, the dark area clears to show the new Diet Pepsi Logo.

Ambien Prescription Medicine

 This mug is from the makers of Ambien Prescription medicine.  The cold mug shows a window with a dark night sky with the moon and stars.  When hot, the mug shows a person greeting the sunrise after a good night's rest.

The mug was given to Physician's offices to advertise the medicine when it first came out.

This mug is a 1 plus design, with the Ambien logo and its medical name on the back, though this part of the mug design has no thermochromic ink.

Frontline Heartgard Awards Program

This is a unique 3 sided design for Frontline (topical pest control) Awards Program.  Though I am unable to  find any references to this particular awards program through Frontline, this is a great mug with a great design.

Across the side (opposite the handle, see above) is an oval showing just Superior Protection.  The front and back show two solid colored banners.  

When heated, you can see the rest of the logo showing a dog and cat and the 'Awards Program' designation.  The two banners clear to show the Frontline and Heartgard Trademarks.

Fox and Jacobs

This mug is from Fox & Jacobs Home Builders (now known as Centex Homes.)  They are a company that creates communities across much of the US.  The mug shows a beautiful home, and the entire design clears when hot to show the word SOLD.  This mug takes advantage of one of the less known facts about thermochromic ink, namely that it doesn't disappear completely.  When the design changes, it doesn't turn absolutely clear.  The ink turns a sort of translucent tan which can still be seen.  In this mug, the home is still visible, albeit very light, but a big "SOLD" sign is visible as if stamped across it.  

This is a corporate freebie, probably given to home buyers when the home closes.

Mapco Fleet Fueling

This mug is from Mapco Express, a chain of convenience stores/gas stations across the Southeast US, and even up the Eastern Seaboard.  There are even a few across the Southwest and California.  The mug advertises Mapco's Fleet Fueling credit carts, with a dark cover over a good part of the design, leaving the logo and the words below "Watch your fleet fueling problems disappear."  When  hot, the design shows a Fleet Fueling Credit Card.  

This is a corporate advertisiting mug, probably given to those who applied for Fleet fueling cards, or the like.

Katy Maintenance Group

This mug is from the Katy Maintenance Group. The mug shows a large irregularly shaped dark area on the front of the mug which, when hot, clears to show its other subsidiaries.  Katy Maintenance is a commercial maintenance company and is the parent company of several other maintenance companies or supplies manufacturers.  It is these other companies which are shown in the clear area. 

This mug is a corporate freebie, that was given out to advertise the merging of all their divisions in 2003. It is a standard sized mug and is only a 1 sided design.
