SYNCOR Home Infusion Therapy

This mug is from Syncor, a home medical company specializing in Home Infusion or I.V. Services.  The left side of the mug features the Syncor logo and name, along with the company motto: Your Point of Control. Below this is a big dark rectangle.  Below the rectangle is the phrase "Home Infusion Therapy."
When hot liquid is added to the mug, the rectangle clears revealing a chart showing how Syncor's Pharmacokinetic Services improve health over time.

This is the type of mug given out to customers and prospective customers to advertise a company.  The mug is in great shape, and though the color change is not as clear as it could be, it's enough to reveal the chart clearly.

Morning Mug

A few weeks ago, one of my daughters posted this mug on her Facebook page, and tagged me.  I loved it and told her she should buy it for me.  Long story short: She did not.  BUT as luck would have it, this mug showed up at my local thrift store.  It's not new, but so few of my mugs are. I'm just happy to have it included in my collection.

This mug is white, with a wrap around black band.  On both sides of the mug is a 'smiley' which shows someone with eyes closed (and possibly snoring.  I'm not sure with the mouth like that.)
When hot liquid is added to the mug, the entire dark area clears to show a wide awake face and a smile.  Beautiful color change, beautiful mug!

UPS Next Day Air

This mug is a great design from UPS.  On the left side of the mug is a dark area, showing a yellow plane and moon above a black city skyline. White stars randomly dot the dark sky.  At the upper right, is the phrase "As sure as night turns into day ... UPS delivers."
On the right side of the mug is the UPS logo with the addition of "NEXT DAY AIR" all in red.
When hot liquid is added to the mug, the dark sky clears to reveal the same UPS NEXT DAY AIR logo and the phrase "10:30 a.m. Delivery Guaranteed."  In addition, the plane and moon now become a bright rising sun.

The color change is not as complete as I'd really like, but it's a great design. The mug is an advertising promotional mug, given out to customers to promote the Next Day Air service when it started.

Ford Insta-Clear

This week's mug is a quickie, from Ford Motor Company.  It advertises the Insta-Clear technology at about the time it was first introduced.  On the left side of the mug is a drawing  of a Ford station wagon (circa 1984) with a dark windshield positioned below the words "INSTANT CLEAR."

On the right is a simple small Ford Logo.

When hot liquid is added, the windshield clears to reveal the words "With Insta-clear."  Insta-clear was introduced in Fords in the mid 1980s and is the trademark used by the Ford Motor Company for its electrically heated windshield technology.

This is an early magic mug, with a quick and simple color change. It really uses the idea of the magic mug reveal  beautifully.

Gossamer Steel by RJF International Corporation

This week's mug is a beauty from the RJF International Corporation. Originally sellers of industrial metals and materials, most of the company is now owned by other corporations.  This mug, however, is owned by me.  On the right side of the mug, it advertises the "Gossamer Steel Collection" and has the advert line "Changing the Face of Walls" above the company name at the bottom.

On the left side of the mug is a beautiful garden scene with a large caterpillar on a branch above a bunch of leaves covered with darker leaves (highlighted in spots with red.)

When hot liquid is added, the caterpillar disappears from the branch, and the dark area below clears to reveal a beautiful butterfly.

The color change is almost perfect and the design is quite beautiful.

CIS You're a Star

This week's mug is one of those that I can't seem to find any history on.  On the Left side of the mug is a large blue star with many smaller stars flying around it.  Below the stars is the phrase "You're A Star!"
On the right side of the mug is the phrase "Thanks for helping us build for the future.  Below this is a signature which says "Dave Jones."
When the cup is filled with hot liquid, the stars clear to show that some are yellow and the main star in the center has the letters CIS on it.  Color change is quick and complete.

The general design of the mug suggests that this is a gift to customers of the company, CIS, perhaps free, or free with purchase.

RCA Megachanger

This week's mug comes from RCA and is a rather simple mug advertising the RCA Megachanger. The Megachanger was a CD Changer that held more Audio CDs than the usual at that time.  (My research did not turn up any of these, so I can only guess at the number of discs that the 'Megachanger' held.) The mug was probably a giveaway with the purchase of the Megachanger.

The left side of the mug has an unusual pattern on it at the bottom of which is a large dark space.

On the right side of the mug is the RCA letter logo in red.
When hot liquid is added, the space at the  bottom clears to show the name "RCA Megachanger."   (This example is a bit microwave damaged, but it does change.)
