This mug comes from the reboot of the movie "The Shadow" (1994) starring Alec Baldwin as the title character. On the left side of the mug is the logo of the movie, with the character in black and white above the stylized print "The Shadow."
On the right side of the mug is a large dark oval with the phrase "Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men?" Running down the side of this oval is the trademark information and copyright. "TM & © 1994 Advance Magazine Publishers, Inc. Used Under License."
When hot liquids are added to the mug, the Shadow logo fades out. The shadow was a character from the early 1940s comics and radio who had the power 'to cloud men's minds' and this is a great use of the magic ink along those lines!
Additionally, on the right side of the mug, the bottom of the oval clears to complete the phrase from the radio show "Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men? The Shadow Knows." All that's missing is an evil laugh!
This mug ranks near the top of my favorites list. The colors are vivid, the mug is in great shape and the color change is near perfect.
