X-Files - The Truth Is Out There

From the popular Television show "X-Files" comes this wonderful Magic Mug.This is a 1-Plus design, with a color changing design on one side and a non-changing design on the other.   The non-changing design is that of the logo for the TV show, the X Files.  

The side with the thermochromic ink shows a rectangle of dark with the words 'the truth is out there' (which is a tag line from the show.) When hot liquid is added, the rectangle clears to show another tag from the show: "trust no one."

Teacher's Cup

This is a retail mug for teachers. As you can see, the mug features a wrap around blackboard which says, in a child-like scrawl: "Teacher's Cup" and there is a drawing of a cup of coffee and an apple.  

This is one of my best mugs, as the graphics are sharp, and not fading at all. The color change is complete, and fast.  Once cleared, the blackboard shows a bunch of things a teacher needs such as a globe, scissors and even a pair of glasses.  The apple is part of the underlying design yet the cup has cleared as part of the thermochromic ink.

Bridgestone Snow Tires

This is a mug from Bridgestone Tire corporration, advertising  Snow Tires. This is a corporate freebie, most likely given away with a full set of snow tires.  On the front it has a design of a tire with snow on top above a dark space on which is printed "Bridgestone" near the bottom. 

When hot liquid is added, the dark area clears to show "LET IT SNOW" in big bold letters.  This is a large mug with a nice big handle.  One of my personal favorites.

CLEO Lamps by Phillips

This is another great advertising mug.  It is for CLEO Lamps by Philips.  (CLEO Lamps are designed for tanning beds and the campaign for these new lamps was launched in 2005.)  The Mug is two sided and shows the same design on both sides, a large dark square above the product name and its associated web address.

When hot liquid is added, the squares both show the same tag line "GIVE YOUR BUSINESS THE ADVANTAGE".

NetLink / Superstar Network

This is a two sided mug for the Netlink Superstar Network.  I'm familiar with Netlink, but not Superstar, but they are on two sides of the same mug, so I'm going to assume they are related.  Both sides of the mug show the tag line "We're Here for You!" and a blank TV. 

When hot liquid is poured in, the two TVs clear to show the two logos for Netlink and Superstar.  

I am also unsure as to the reason for the mug.  It's a corporate freebie, I'm fairly sure, perhaps (guessing) to note the merger of the two companies.  Eitehr way, it's in great shape and the thermochromic change is excellent.

Sams Town Tunica MS

This magic mug is from Sam's Town - Tunica which is a casino and hotel located in the Vegas of the South, Tunica, Mississippi.  I expect that this mug was a give-away for special guests or possibly even big winners. This mug has a 3 sided design, which, when cool, shows an oddly shaped dark swath running around the mug.  

When hot liquids are added, the oddly shaped swatch clears to show "Just south of Memphis" below the main logo and cartoon coins or chips scattered around to the back of the mug. On the back is a cartoon of a slot machine all lit up.  Across the center is a winning play of 7-7-7 and Sam's Town written on its face.

Sun And Moon by Bob Mackie

This is a great 2 sided retail purchased mug that I found in a thrift store. Not advertising, this mug shows a beautiful moon face on both sides of the mug, on a black background, the design by renowned designer Bob Mackie. His signature is on the front of the mug.  

When hot liquid is added, the mug shows teh even more beautiful sun face below.
