Elixicon Suspension / Elixophyllin Capsules

This week's mug is from Elixicon / Elixophyllin medicine, a treatment for Asthma.  On the right side of the mug are the two names, Elixicon Suspension (liquid) and its Pharmaceutical name, below which is Elixophyllin Capsules and its Pharmaceutical name.  At the the bottom is the copyright Berlex Laboratories 1983, all rights reserved.
On the left side of the mug is a drawing of a man seated on an office type chair, his hat in his lap and with a halo above him. Beside him is the phrase "Help them be perfect angels" and to the side and below is the Pharmaceutical name again.  Beside the man is also a drawing of the same man with cigarette, but instead of a halo, he has devil's horns.  Beside him is the phrase "...not little devils."

This mug has been damaged either by UV or Microwave use and no longer changes. If it did, the devil would disappear when hot liquid is added to the mug.

A nice mug, very old, but still a nice addition to my collection.

FX2 The Art of Illusion

FX2 was the squel to the successful movie FX.  The movies starred Brian Dennehy and Bryan Brown.  This beautiful mug was given to distributors and is a great use of the thermochromatic ink.  On both sides of the mug, you see the same design, Brian and Bryan in a scene from the movie, with the title FX2 below, and the subtitle "The Art of Illusion."

When hot liquid is added, the designs change, differently!  On the left side of the mug the logo and subtitle disappear where on the right, the photo disappears!  Beautiful design in a magic mug!

Color change is great, near complete and the mug is in great condition!

DeskJet 500 C Printer

This week's mug is the Hewlett Packard DeskWriter C and DeskJet 500 C.  On the right side of the mug it shows the Hewlett Packard name and logo, along with the two printer names.

On the left side of the mug and stretching around to the front a bit is a wide dark rectangle with a printer in the center.
When hot liquid is added, the entire rectangle clears to reveal a sky with colored flight path for the now 'super' printer.  I'm sure this had something to do with the original marketing of the printer, but I cannot find anything on it.

Color change is good, though a bit dark. Still a great find!

SYNCOR Home Infusion Therapy

This mug is from Syncor, a home medical company specializing in Home Infusion or I.V. Services.  The left side of the mug features the Syncor logo and name, along with the company motto: Your Point of Control. Below this is a big dark rectangle.  Below the rectangle is the phrase "Home Infusion Therapy."
When hot liquid is added to the mug, the rectangle clears revealing a chart showing how Syncor's Pharmacokinetic Services improve health over time.

This is the type of mug given out to customers and prospective customers to advertise a company.  The mug is in great shape, and though the color change is not as clear as it could be, it's enough to reveal the chart clearly.

Morning Mug

A few weeks ago, one of my daughters posted this mug on her Facebook page, and tagged me.  I loved it and told her she should buy it for me.  Long story short: She did not.  BUT as luck would have it, this mug showed up at my local thrift store.  It's not new, but so few of my mugs are. I'm just happy to have it included in my collection.

This mug is white, with a wrap around black band.  On both sides of the mug is a 'smiley' which shows someone with eyes closed (and possibly snoring.  I'm not sure with the mouth like that.)
When hot liquid is added to the mug, the entire dark area clears to show a wide awake face and a smile.  Beautiful color change, beautiful mug!

UPS Next Day Air

This mug is a great design from UPS.  On the left side of the mug is a dark area, showing a yellow plane and moon above a black city skyline. White stars randomly dot the dark sky.  At the upper right, is the phrase "As sure as night turns into day ... UPS delivers."
On the right side of the mug is the UPS logo with the addition of "NEXT DAY AIR" all in red.
When hot liquid is added to the mug, the dark sky clears to reveal the same UPS NEXT DAY AIR logo and the phrase "10:30 a.m. Delivery Guaranteed."  In addition, the plane and moon now become a bright rising sun.

The color change is not as complete as I'd really like, but it's a great design. The mug is an advertising promotional mug, given out to customers to promote the Next Day Air service when it started.

Ford Insta-Clear

This week's mug is a quickie, from Ford Motor Company.  It advertises the Insta-Clear technology at about the time it was first introduced.  On the left side of the mug is a drawing  of a Ford station wagon (circa 1984) with a dark windshield positioned below the words "INSTANT CLEAR."

On the right is a simple small Ford Logo.

When hot liquid is added, the windshield clears to reveal the words "With Insta-clear."  Insta-clear was introduced in Fords in the mid 1980s and is the trademark used by the Ford Motor Company for its electrically heated windshield technology.

This is an early magic mug, with a quick and simple color change. It really uses the idea of the magic mug reveal  beautifully.
